The Ojibway Power Toboggan Association’s (OPTA) Pink Warrior Run on March 7, 2026 raised $10,400 to donate to the Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre Foundation (SLMHC Foundation) for mammography services a the Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre (SLMHC) as well as general health care services provided by SLMHC.

On March 31, representatives from the OPTA donated funds raised through the event to the Foundation. Corrie Strating, OPTA Event Coordinator, said the OPTA was proud to present the cheque, “As a group of volunteers we are so proud to be part of our community, and to be able to raise funds for such a great cause. Being able to raise funds to support the struggles of breast cancer and hopefully help those in their battle makes us proud. We could not have done this without the help of our volunteers and sponsors in the community and the Dryden area. Her fight is our fight. We are looking forward to hosting this event again in 2027.”

Melissa Slade, Donor Relations/Operations Coordinator, SLMHC Foundation, stated, “On behalf of the SLMHC Foundation, I would like to thank OPTA for their generous donation of proceeds raised from their extremely successful 1st Pink Warrior Run event. We sincerely appreciate the recognition of and advocacy for the importance of quality health care close to home – every bit helps us to reach those goals while making a meaningful difference for our community.”
