Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre (SLMHC), alongside the Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre Foundation marked a significant milestone, officially breaking ground for Sioux Lookout’s first ever MRI on September 16, 2025! The MRI Suite will be located adjacent to the Ambulatory Care Entrance, and will “be seamlessly connected, as an expansion to the hospital, directly to the Diagnostic Imaging Department. The project will utilize a prefabricated modular pod building, that’s approximately 1,650 square feet, to house the MRI machine.” It is anticipated that the first MRI scans in Sioux Lookout will begin somewhere around August 2026.
During MRI Constructio, traffic flow into the Ambulatory Care Entrance will be permanently change. All vehicles dropping off patients at the Ambulatory Care Entrance will be required to flow through the parking gate on the main road and pull a gate ticket. SLMHC states that the “parking system allows a grace period of 15 minutes for drop-offs and pick-ups, and exit during this time can be done by simply using the gate ticket that was pulled upon entry.” For more information on parking at SLMHC, please visit www.slmhc.on.ca/parking.
