Foundation News: Foundation Update (March 2026)

The SLMHC Foundation continues to be a committed hospital partner in the highly successful “Split the Pot Lottery” for 2026. This lottery differs from a traditional 50/50 in the sense that the grand prize is split between 13 lucky winners and not just one. This means that not only does Split the Pot Lottery offer weekly Early Bird prizes and an amplified monthly jackpot, but also an increased number of lucky winners, while still supporting local healthcare at SLMHC. To date, we have received a profit total of almost $57,000 as a participating partner of this amazing program. Plus, chances for you to win are real – we’ve had some of our supporters win Early Bird prizes and have seen multiple SLMHCF ticket holders take home a split of the Grand Prize! To purchase tickets or for more information, please visit the Split the Pot page on the foundation website at www.foundation.slmhc.on.ca and be sure to select Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre Foundation from the drop-down menu during checkout to maximize the benefit to our local hospital. The option to become a monthly member of the program and have automated ticket purchases at the beginning of each month is available as well. Just click the box to become a member at checkout to “set and forget” – never miss out on another future draw and support healthcare at SLMHC at the same time!
Mark your calendars for November 13-15, 2026! The 15th annual Home Hardware Skip to Equip is scheduled to take place at the Sioux Lookout Golf and Curling Club and is sure to be another great weekend of women’s curling and comradery! The Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre Foundation is thankful for the dedication and partnership with Skip to Equip. This is the largest fundraiser of the year in support of the Foundation as well as a prominent community event. We are deeply grateful to the committee members, participants, sponsors, and donors for their ongoing support and steadfast dedication to advancing health care in the North.
The Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre Foundation’s MRI Campaign has now officially concluded, following steady progress over the past two years. Since the campaign launched in December 2023, the journey to providing local MRI services has steadily moved forward. In early 2025, the Ontario Government announced funding support for Sioux Lookout’s first MRI machine. Official groundbreaking for the new MRI suite took place in September 2025, and on February 18 of this year, two prefabricated modular buildings specially designed to house the MRI suite were successfully delivered and are in place on site at Meno Ya Win — a visible and exciting sign of progress! As the project continues to take shape, the impact of this milestone is already being felt and this essential diagnostic service is closer than ever to serving patients locally. This achievement reflects the collective efforts of our donors, partners, supporters and community members who have helped turn a long-standing goal into a reality for the North. We are appreciative of the overwhelming support and look forward to the day when patients can access MRI services right here in Sioux Lookout.
As we celebrate these accomplishments, our work continues. Our purpose is to raise money in order to provide ongoing funding for medical equipment, education, special treatment programs and capital building funds for the Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre. All funds raised are directed to the Equipment Fund. For more information or to make a donation, visit www.foundation.slmhc.on.ca or contact Donor Relations/Operations Coordinator, Melissa Slade at 807-737-7997 or by email at foundation@slmhc.on.ca . Without your support we would not be able to continue to purchase much needed equipment for our hospital. We extend our sincere appreciation to the many donors who support us year-round—individuals and families, local businesses, and national corporations alike.
