SLMHC Foundation 50/50 draw winner takes home over $10,000

Kathy Hager, from Kenora, took home $10,050 after having her winning ticket number, K-6660897, drawn during the Oct. 13 Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre (SLMHC) Foundation 50/50 draw.

Hager, who had to double-check her tickets after being unable to believe she could have won, explained that she is typically unlucky and has never won anything.

“I always buy from Kenora,” she said. “I noticed that other hospitals were starting (lotteries) and I figured I would buy just a few more tickets,” she said, laughing. “I’ve been buying from Sioux Lookout for the whole summer,” she explained.

While anticipating a draw announcement, one often contemplates potential ideas for hopeful winnings, should they be so lucky. For Hager, it is an easy decision.

“It will probably just go to my girls. I don’t need anything, so I’ll put it in their bank accounts,” she said.

The next draw is already underway and the winner will be announced on Nov. 17. The Early Bird Draw will take place on Friday, Oct. 29. Purchase tickets before 11 a.m. on Oct. 29 to be automatically entered for a chance to win the $1,000 early bird prize.
